What is the origin of R.S.V.P.?
R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, “répondez, s’il vous plaît,” which means “please reply.”
The person sending the invitation would like you to tell him or her whether you accept or decline the invitation.
That is, will you be coming to the event or not?
Etiquette rules followed in most Western cultures require that if you receive a formal, written invitation you should reply promptly, perhaps that same day.
If you get an email invitation, simply click the Reply button and type “Yes and head count attending”, or “No, we have other plans”
How can you the member improve your LYC service experience with R.S.V.P.?
We have approximately 12 events a year that are well planned in advance.
We also have some busy dining evenings in the Chart & River Rooms.
These events are advertized in the monthly Griffon Log, weekly Shout Out and posted on the bulletin board in the Chart Room.
Each of these events has a signup sheet posted in the Chart Room or R.S.V.P. phone number to reserve.
For Chart & River Room dining reservations, simply call 283-3080 during business hours to make your reservation.
The purpose of the signup sheet is to get a feel for the expected event head count.
This head count is used to determine:
1. Food requirements (too much food or too little food we lose $$$ or service)
2. Staff requirements (too much staff or too little staff we lose $$$ or service)
3. Room/Pavilion setup requirements so everyone is comfortable
The sooner LYC gets an accurate RSVP head count, the better the LYC service experience
This is how you the member can improve your LYC service experience with an R.S.V.P.
